Introduction

Exeter House School is a special school for children aged 4-19 years of age with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex needs. The provision is currently split over three sites within Salisbury, Wiltshire. One on Somerset Road (151 pupils) and two smaller satellite centres in Salisbury totalling 50 pupils. This is split into 26 at the Vocational Centre & 24 at the Pembroke Park Satellite provision.  Exeter House sits within Brunel Multi-Academy Trust.

The Academy has had a period of regular growth, change and collaboration over a number of years. The Academy was graded as ‘good’ by Ofsted in June 2023 and continues to deliver an effective and inclusive education for all pupils. Brunel and Exeter House are committed to supporting the SEND system within Wiltshire and as a result have partnered with Wiltshire local authority to deliver an increase in specialist places for pupils in South Wiltshire.  Both the Trust and the Local Authority have collaborated with The Ascend Trust to obtain this building.  Both Trusts are looking forward to becoming neighbours and see coming together on the Wellington site as the foundation to grow an inclusive collaboration together with engagement from all stakeholders.

This commitment has resulted in the Academy planning to drive this change through the submission of a significant business case to the regional director (Department of Education). These proposed changes will support the trust vision and Academy’s strategic drive to further develop a high-quality education and system of excellence to support the school and wider SEND system.

Any proposed change to Exeter House is significant and as a result we are consulting with you as stakeholders to ascertain your thoughts and feelings on these proposed changes.
